What women wear in the workplace

Sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum. And I'd rather ask men because I think fashionable men know more about fashion than an average woman.

Anyway, my girlfriend wears certain outfits to the office that I think are borderline inappropriate and/or maybe too casual for the workplace (officially a busines casual office). Tell me if I'm crazy, but in the past 2 weeks she's worn:

1 - A very tight short sleeve shirt (not low-cut) with a very padded bra. Her boss had even told someone else "I could barely stare at her face when she was talking to me."

2 - A shirt that hangs off one shoulder and completely exposes her bra strap (red) on that shoulder.

3 - Loose-fitting shirt with no sleeves that, at side view, the arm hole exposes like half of her bra (red bra again).

4 - Outline of thong showing through her pants.

5 - In general, she wears very padded bras, which make her look too top-heavy in my opinion and appear her boobs are fake. She's 5', 94 lbs, and she's already busty for her frame.

I like the way she dresses, I just don't think it's appropriate for work. Or am I just being an a-hole (what she seems to think)

I think you are going to have to take a picture of her for us so we can give you better advice :).

Well, that kind of depends on what everyone else is wearing and what the bosses respond to. If everyone's wearing a toga, then you don a toga, capisce?

This has nothing to do with fashion and everything to do with your discomfort with your girlfriend dressing provocatively for the men in her office. Have you tried talking to her about it? Because I'm thinking that's going to get you better results than anything you find in this thread. It won't be as entertaining for us, but probably much better for you.

^It sounds like he's tried an initial talk with her. She thinks that he is an asshole. If you have the money, buy her some more expensive clothes to show her how some classy things can look sexy without revealing. All girls like expensive clothes, don't they? Perhaps her taste will become more expensive yet less revealing.

This sounds a whole lot more about insecurity than attire. The only thing you have control over is yourself, so tell her how you feel and she'll either do something about it or she won't. Either way you've done your part and you can move on.

the boss's comment is instructive. you should prepare and schedule a meeting with your gf to discuss better style options. she can dress sexy in a way that raises her status in the workplace instead of lowering it.

Yeah, but there's a difference between:

OP: That's totally inappropriate for work. You look like a whore!
GF: Asshole!

and OP having a heart to heart about the issue and how it makes him feel.

I think we're being a little unkind to OP. Depending on the girlfriend's career ambitions, it could be counterproductive to dress that way. If you were a lawyer and did that, you would get nowhere fast. So it depends on the workplace and her own ambitions, so more details would be appreciated. To the extent that OP is concerned not because of jealousy or insecurity, but because he wants to help his girlfriend dress professionally in a way that will benefit her, he deserves a serious response.

If I ran an office, yoga pants would be mandatory for all women. (No fatties)
