I've always been told match the 2 collars. V-neck t-shirt under a V-neck sweater and crew necks together. As I'm looking at the Bananna Republic site's sweaters, all of the models are shown with crew neck T's under V-neck sweaters. Which is right or does it even matter?

Who told you this?! That is the exact opposite of good advice. Personally, I'd say wear an OCBD with a V-neck, but wearing a V-neck T with a V-neck sweater is absurd. You wear a crew neck like the Banana Republic models.

If I'm going real casual I wear a v-neck sweater over a v-neck t-shirt. Never heard it's some big sin.

hahah, i'm assuming you're being facetious because that is an awful look. a v-neck tee under a v-neck sweater looks much better.

Why is it absurd? Many people prefer to have the clean look of just a sweater, and not have a t-shirt collar floating around their neck. I can think of no real reason why one is better than the other, it's just preference.

It's a terrible look because you look like someone from Friends.
