what type of style is canali? sizing?

Is Canali considered Roman? What about Corneliani, what style is that?

I was in New York today and tried on some at Saks and both the Canali and Corneliani looked really good, although the sizing was odd. The Canali seemed to fit me best in a 50 (european) whereas the Corneliani fit best in a 52. I tried a Brioni and it looked good too, and fit best in size 42 (US), which I understand is a 54 european. An Isaia I tried fit best in size 50, but didn't look as good on me. Must be something about my frame and the neapolitan cut.

Of course, I can't afford any of them right now, at least not at new retail prices, but it was nice to try on some of the suits I've read so much about on this site.

I would call Canali and Corneliani "Ameripolitan". The good news for you is that both Canali and Corneliani can be had at very reasonable prices on ebay, STP and when Lance has them at VirtualClothesHorse.com. DocHolliday and odoreater are the resident Corneliani experts and they can add to my anwer.

They are slimer cut suits but certainly not slim suits. Canali regular body (C body) is a drop 7 and they do a drop 8 as well, which obviously will be a bit slimmer. Both do not have high arm holes and are mostly ropped. There are slight difference between the two brands, i myself prefer corneliani over canali.

I have 5 or 6 Canali and also a Corneliani and i'm more than happy with them....
I wear the Corneliani every week ,even on my day off....
The construction is good ,the product is solid and well-made,the cut is modern and the price tag is still ,unlike Brioni, human ...
I will even go further and recommend Corneliani for anybody looking a for well-made good all-rounder suit....
I also love Canali for their classic cut and their natural flowing elegance....
Their material and cut are superb ,the design is good and you can get them on £700 mark...
My favourite is Zegna..A bit more pricey but the tessuti are better quality and overall the construction is better than Canali and Corneliani....
Pal Zileri is also offering very good products...

This is might have to disagree with especially when dealing with Corneliani. Zegna, and Canali, both do not canvas their lower color or their shoulders. As well with Zegna the way that the sleeve is sewn on is not as sturdy as canali and corneliani. Once the thread is cut the sleeve will simply fall off. Corneliani and Canali both do not have this flaw, my tailor complains about this all the time.
