Something about Rings just seems…cheap? Have only seen a few scenes and no real interest to watch more (never particularly enjoyed LOTR on the whole), but didn’t remotely convey its price tag from what I saw.

HotD is fine. They were (somewhat) handcuffed by the various time jumps, but they managed to really flub a few of them, even by my low standards. Looks stunning. Acting is adequate. Have a sinking feeling they’re going to lean way too heavily into CGI at the expense of character/story building as it progresses. TBD

I think the issue is that LotR is playing the super long game (they’re committed to 5 seasons I believe), so they’re taking the introductory/world building stage seriously, which is usually pretty boring.

Friday nights are usually movie night at our place, but the daughter chose The Umbrella Academy, so we've been binging our way through the first season for the past two nights. I'm kinda digging it.

I'm constantly "who's that" "which one is that".....everyone except Daemon is named Aegon. So Daemon is the only character I know.
