I remember the ice pick murder story because there was another similar video around (3 guys one hammer) the same time. I didn't know the back story. I can definitely relate to not liking particular story formulas.

Giri/Haji isn't good. Rote, lazy and edited very poorly. Ep. 4 should have been ep. 1. That was, imo, the biggest editing mistake, but that wouldn't have saved the show.

Not sure I agree with the hype but enjoying it so far. Still in episode 3 though.
On another note, I stopped watching the Witcher when the bard said he uses reverse psychology.

Fair enough. I thought the show got progressively worse as it dragged on. The last few episodes were barely watchable, imo.

Sounds bad, considering the last show I watched was Dracula, which went from great to terrible within just three episodes.

It's like a ripoff of a Guy Ritchie ripoff of a Tarantino film. For example, it will have a comedic relief scene with extreme violence while also having having a dramatic back story with violence. So violence and extreme violence is played as comedic relief; and important, serious character development. It doesn't work.

They also slowly reveal the backstories of the main characters, which is almost always problematic. Up should be required viewing for all directors. A 3 minute musical montage at the beginning of the movie was all it took to make you empathize with the old man.

I’ve been watching season 2 of Castle Rock. It’s fun, but it doesn’t stand up very well in comparison to a lot of other stuff being made right now: The Boys and Stranger Things come to mind.

That new HBO show The Outsider is IMO fantastic so far. Everything I'd want out of a show of that nature
