Never watched the Bureau so I may give the Fassbender version a shot.
The jurys still out on The Agency so far IMO but they're different enough. I wouldn't skip The Bureau.

I'm enjoying the Dune TV shows. I, very publicly, hated the original book and original movie. Still do.

Me too (I mean I like the show; I don't hate the books or Lynch movie)

Only part I really have a prob with are the club scenes with techno music. That's really out of place for that setting.

Yeah, I'll likely start that one tonight. The wife and daughter are going out of town this weekend, so I have full control of the TV. No true crime documentaries or Love Island for the next 48 hours!

That is not the correct answer...
The Bureau is off Prime so I dove into The Agency in my hotel this week. Without a frame of reference it's not bad. Compelling storyline, well produced and Fassbender, Geoffrey Wright, etc. are solid as expected. Intriguing tie in to the current war in Ukraine.

Also in the same genre, I finished S2 of Lioness. That is a surprisingly solid show. Clearly [hopefully] not based in any sort of reality (see spoiler) or as tight and perfectly crafted as Slow Horses but watchable.

Openly assassinate civilian targets in Iran with US military helicopter? I'm sure that happens all the time.

I was going to do a re-watch of The Bureau, and also noticed it wasn't streaming without "buying it".
I'll keep my eye out.
When I'm liquored up at out of the way locations, I always introduce myself as Malotru.
In 5 years when I move to Italy, I think I'll make it stick.

Also, the title always makes me think of this scene:

Cannot fathom why every new good/very good show needs to be treated as some sort of seminal achievement.

The Penguin is not that fawking good. It's very solid. Plenty enjoyable. I quite enjoyed it.

It's not remotely one of the best shows in recent years.

This first season of "Condor" ( spy show from a few years ago ) is fantastic.

This Israeli spy chick is one of the most cold-blooded killer bad guys to come around in a long time.
Bonus points: she's also a nympho.

Not even Game of Thrones killed off so many regular characters.

Finished Black Doves. I liked it; a bit ridiculous in places, but a fun spy show. It's also apparently been renewed for a second season, so that will be something to look forward to around Christmas 2026.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
