Because I'm a sheep who does more or less what the internet tells him, I recently bought a couple of pairs of cotton-linen trousers on sale (you really can't start planning for summer too early [I'm Australian]). They were the ones touted here:

I got a navy pair and a 'sand' pair.
Any thoughts on what to wear these with? I'm a bit scared of the light-coloured pair; they're nearly white. I'd like to wear them to work (I work for the govt so no dress code to speak of) and also for smart casual.
Here's what I'm thinking for work wear:
- Suede or mid-brown loafers
- Tan bluchers
- Socks (no me gusta formal shoes without socks)
- White or light blue oxford, preferably BD
- Casual tie perhaps
- Light linen or wool odd jacket, nothing too hard-finished
And as casual wear:
- Boat shoes (no socks of course)
- Driving mocs (no socks of course)
- Striped/patterned (madras?) shirt, cotton or linen
- Polo shirt at minimum
- No jacket or tie
Thoughts? Insults?
