Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a navy velvet blazer for the holiday season, it's probably going to be a notch lapel with 2 buttons. So I'm wondering what would go nicely with it.

What I have in mind is pairing it with a white shirt and a burgundy tie with white/pale pink dots.

What kind of trousers and shoes would go well with a velvet blazer? I suppose black trousers and shoes would be the obvious choice.

I guess so, if it was worn in lieu of a dinner suit/smoking jacket (possibly with a bow tie/cravat instead of the necktie), in which case evening trousers would also be appropriate. Otherwise, I'd probably stay away from black.

You could even wear them with jeans for informal affairs and I agree charcoal/grey would be good.

Back in the day, we wore them with jeans, Doc Martens boots and a Ben Sherman shirt. Tasty, my son.

Dark gray pants. Don't mix navy with navy, even with contrasting fabrics. Wear black or (if not so formal a situation) burgundy balmorals.

And where do you propose wearing this garment? It lacks versatility and seems closer to an affectation.
