something you are comfortable sitting down in for a long period of time - lots of people wear a new suit or whatever on valentines day/date that they are not used to/are very concious of the risk of spilling stuff on. You won't have a good evening if you are not comfortable with what you are wearing

Decent pair of trousers and a shirt, no tie would probably be adequate - it has not pretentious hints on its web site.

If you wear suits as a matter of course a black or light grey or fawn one, without tie might be OK but a danger that you will feel over dressed. Don't wear a chalk/pin stripe or anything else which would suggest that you have come straight from the office.

True, but the same can be said for what you are wearing everyday.

I actually think that it would be a fine place to wear a suit, particularly if you have one that is a bit fashion forward. Things may be slightly more casual in Northern Ohio, but when I lived in DC you would see the majority of a place that looked like that's clientele a bit dressed up.

The other alternative that I've seen in similar looking places is a pair of smart, dark jeans and a fitted sport coat, but I don't know about your feelings toward that style.

It's so hard to get the feel for a place from just looking at the decor...
