Hey All,

I will be attending my first set of classes for my MBA tomorrow. and was wondering if I can have your opinions on this setup:

Dark Green Fitted Polo (not actually a polo, but you get the idea) untucked - shirt is short (ends at wrist)
Uniqlo regular fit jeans (Dark)
Brown Vintage (assuming, not sure how old they actually are) Ferragamo ankle boots

The program is mostly catering to working individuals and hence all classes are at night. I assume most will be comming to class in their work clothes. However since I do not work, and that information will probably get out - I don't know if wearing casual business attire (to me in Miami: rolled up dress shirt with slacks/chinos) would send out the right vibe. Miami/this school (Barry University) seems to be a bit more "laid back"/casual - saw quite a few MBA students wearing casual gear (t-shirts, shorts, sandals) to class a few terms back - then again it was 90 degrees with 100% humidity out....so I was thinking this would be an safe go-between?

That sounds fine to me. Save the suit for the (numerous) interview and corporate functions that are on the way.

I'm actually applying for MBA programs myself right now. I sat in on an evening class at NYU a few months back. About half of the people there were in suits (having probably come from work, mostly in banking jobs) and the other half (presumably the full timers) were in like hoodies and jeans. Your idea seems like a good go between.

Most people will be coming straight from work, thus just wear what you wore to work.

For my first MBA class last week I wore a dress shirt and pants. No jacket. However it would of been a cold day, I probably would have thrown on the jacket.

I was probably the most dressed up guy, but a majority were wearing the same. Some guys wore a sweater over the dress shirt.

Maybe not applicable for Miami, but I would at least go with a button up.

I would wear a suit with no tie. Make it look like you're coming from somewhere important. People should feel slightly threatened by you and want to figure out who you are. Network building amongst your fellow MBAs is what will get you either your customer base or your big break. People will take your words more seriously with a suit vs a polo shirt, high school's over, you're sitting in with the business leaders of tomorrow, stake your claim.
