Yeah it's in August, we got a long while but she wants me to get on stage and introduce all the main guest (must be an asian thing?) So I don't wanna be dressed in rags. Should I be wearing a tuxedo for this? I was just going to wear a suit thinking im not in the wedding but I am kind of now. The groom and grooms men are wearing tuxedos with ties?(what the hell? I personally think bow ties look much better) So shes afraid of me dressing better than everyone else and in result looking better than the groom. Any suggestions?

Wear white.

Just kidding. But really, don't dress poorly on purpose to make the groom look better. If he can't dress that's his problem. I think a tux would be in order. And if the groom needs some sartorial advice, maybe you should provide it. Don't want him looking like a slouch at his own wedding.

Well I want to tell him and the rest of the guys, but none of them are bow-tie type people. They hate dressing up etc etc. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a nice tuxedo. I was just taking a looksee at this one.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....70&rd=1 any good?

It's nice, but I don't think I would go double breasted. Especially if you are already concerned about showing up the wedding party.

But isn't that what the style forum is all about?

Wow, very nice tuxedo. I prefer grosgrain generally, but that one looks great. However, if it's in August you may be too warm in that. Guess you'll have to get that one and a SB too.

I like that tux a lot too.

I'd recommend that you wear the tux...er, *ahem* dinner suit. You don't want to intentionally upstage the groom, but with your standard penguin suit and black tie, there is little chance of that. I say go for it.

I sort of disgaree here. Sorry guys. If you aren't in the wedding party, and the wedding is not otherwise black tie (either black tie, or black tie optional), I don't think you should wear a tux. Though if the rest of the family men (the ones who will be in wedding pictures) will be in a tux, then go ahead and wear a tux.

But, assuming that the only men who will be in tuxes are the groom and the groomsmen, I think it'd look a bit out of place for you to wear a tux. You don't have that big of a job in the wedding, hate to break it to you. If it is at night, wear a very cool black suit (it doesn't need to be Helmut Lang, or Dior Homme -- my wedding suit, which was Brooks Brothers by Cantarelli qualifies in my mind as cool enough), a nice solid tie, and a white spread collar shirt.

My advice especially holds if the wedding is before sundown. I am in total objection to wearing tuxes during the day, and my only exception is for members of the wedding party itself.

Why exempt the wedding party? Wrong is wrong, even if you are signing a marriage license.

This is a social occasion, not dinner theatre. The groom and his buddies should dress well, but not especially differently from the guests, and definitely not in too much finery for the time of day and/or the location.

I exempt them solely because of pictures. I wouldn't demand that Ralph Lauren only do modeling shoots of a guy wearing a tuxedo after sundown. A wedding is, in many respects, theatre. But the only true "actors" in my book are the wedding party.
