So I have three interviews upcoming in the next 2 weeks (Chicago, Northwestern, Yale)...

I'm having trouble deciding what to wear, balancing the right amount of panache without looking like a douche.

Suit:
Option 1: 3 button Givenchy suit, Navy blue but an interesting shade, fit is odd, I'm 38, but bought this in a 40, but it is a slim 40 and I had the waist taken in 1".

Option 2: Canali suit, Dark silver-ish color, 2button.

Option 3: Zenga suit, Navy Blue with very thin light blue pinstripes, 2 button, fit is good, but it's a cheaper ($995 msrp) suit and the material just isn't quite the same.

Shirt:

White double barrel slim: by dolce gabbana
White normal: Ike Behar
White french cuffed: Burberry

All are not quite spread collar like the UK shirt makers but spread in moderation

Tie:
Gianni versace yellow very light silk (hermes like) tie with butterflies
Zenga medium heaviness tie Navy blue with light blue outlines/and light blue colored in elephants
Canali Maroon colored thick with small gold dots, and gold circles

Thanks!

Also is a LV Taiga Viktor Bag too over the top? the other option is a cheap portfolio binder thing from my first job interviews while still in college.

I agree with the above and I would add that if you're going to a top MBA school, you should be capable of dressing yourself

I think a briefcase is overkill. A classic leather notepad with copies of your resume, CV, transcripts will be more than sufficient.

None of the above.

They are all run of the mill cheap suit/shirt/tie.

For such high power schools, only the likes of Isaia, Borrelli, Oxxford, Brioni, or Kiton will do. Go get yourself a new wardrobe, or better yet, try the button on top in red called "search" and peruse the >100 previous posts about what to wear for an interview.

I'm glad you were willing to be the bearer of bad news. I also hope he's not showing up in an automobile (I know, nobody is that dumb, right). I'm assuming he has probably hired a stable boy of appropriate breeding and had some fine horses picked out.

I hear skirts are in for an MBA interview. I'd wear that! Make sure your makeup is well applied and that your mohawk is properly spiked.

So... did you get in?

I'm going for the same league of schools this year and this is my likely ensemble:

Suit: Solid Navy Hickey Freeman 2-button or Charcoal Pinstripe Oxxford 2-button

Shirt: Solid white, bespoke, 2 button cuff

Tie: Light blue Brioni

Shoe: Allen Edmonds Park Avenue

I don't have a huge stock of stuff, but I'm fortunate to have a few quality items. I'll buy a lot more once I get the acceptance letters.

Boring is good. In a short interview, they should never remember your clothes.

Agreed. I'll leave the Hermes ties at home, same for the Ferragamo loafers.

Unless you can pull them off.

I've a friend who wore khaki pants, button-down shirt and a navy blazer with loafers to a top tier b-school interview and got in.

When asked, he said that he's not in it for the image -- and that (obviously) impressed the interviewers enough to disregard his attire.
