Hey,

My best friend got this tie for me for christmas. It's Paul Smith. I absolutely love it and think it's gorgeous, however, the cream stripes in the tie are giving me trouble in terms of what I could wear/match the tie with. Including in terms of just a dress shirt, let alone blazer/vneck/vest and all aswell.

I figured this would be the place to be in order for some excellent advice on matching a tie.

Thanks alot!

Easiest would be an ecru/cream shirt

Blue, gray, cream, brown suits would work fine I think.

Black shirts are usually considered evening wear, and even then I am not sure a lot of forumites would approve

Thanks alot guys! I'm fairly pale though, so I've always been abit weird about wearing a pink shirt. I was just hoping for something funky as an outfit with it.

Also, while I'm at it, I also bought the following tie (the camo one) on a crazy discount last week. For some odd reason I was really drawn to it. It's pretty casual/streetwear, but I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions as to what to wear it with/how to pull it off. It was a fairly impulsive buy and I really am still getting into the whole tie thing, so I'm not confident enough yet to figure it out right hah.

thanks!

Ever watch office space? Yeah . . . we're going to need you to join the army . . . . yeah . . . .

Anyway, I am not sure what you do for a living, but I can only think of pairing that at a very informal (to say the least) event in a brown suit and ecru shirt. That is a difficult tie to pull off . . .

I have found that when you look at a tie on its own it is easy to get attracted to many. What helps is mentally picturing what it would work with . . . I assure you, you will pass on many of them . . . .

well I'm only 19 years old, so I'm just trying to keep things abit more fun and casual. more like just with a dress shirt, or a v-neck/vest over...nothing too far out as a suit exactly. just looking for options.

When I realized that I was looking at a camo tie, I thought of so many jokes at the same time that I got a nosebleed.

when my friend told me about it, i thought she was crazy too. But when I saw it in person it looked nice, and then everytime i'd go into the same store and see it again, it'd grow on me. of course, I only bought it once it became boxing day and went from 150 to 30.

I'm not trashing your taste or intentions. Sorry, if it came off that way. I think the tie is quite interesting. There were just so many puns that came to mind when I first saw it from steezy company to the resistance after six to the sartorial brigade to more crass insinuations. If it looks good on you then good on you! I would be interested to see a picture of how you wear it and what you wear it with. Underneath a v-neck for a subtle effect or with a 2B or SB blazer (complimentary colors, of course) to allow those graced with your company maximum exposure? I think I would go subtle, maybe a navy pairing or cream.
