    Hello guys,

I know the best answer is "give it to good will" or "throw it to the garbage", but I just got a MTM shirt with b&w stripes thinking it was dark blue. I feel so fucking stupid but the damage is done and the money is spent. I don't like to wear black stuff anymore but I have a black tie and black pants which are collecting dust somewhere in my closet. The thing is that I still want to be able to wear the shirt so I don't feel I just flushed money down the toilet.

Is there any decent color combination I can pair this thing besides black or gray pants? I know I have to forget about using my brown shoes and probably any colored tie or jacket which leaves very little room for anything interesting with this shirt. So please give me some advice of what to wear with this.

I think you already know the answer.

Or you can train to be a referee.

Sll it on eBay and get some of your $ back. There are people who will pair the shirt with tight pink trousers and will look "fabulous"

MTM generic/unknown label = tough to sell unless you list in B&S. Most use common search strings on eBay.
MTM known brand = easy flip, list on eBay.

Easy enough. Black bengal stripe is quite cool though.

The trash or goodwill answer would be appropriate if it was a solid dark, but a stripe that's half black and half white? That can certainly work. I would treat it in color as a gray for choosing tie and suit, and I would choose ties with larger patterns that aren't stripes, or textured solids.

As for pant color outside of suits, I would try olive. Brown could work too.

Thanks for the answers, I had no idea this was called "Black bengal stripe", it gave me some ideas through google. Thanks to cptjeff too for the suggestions. I was mind blocked about combinations with this one, so you've all been of great help.

I have a very similar shirt from RL that I bought recently. I plan to wear it with a medium or light grey suit, black tie with small white polka dots and black shoes. I don't own a single black suit or pair of trousers so always planned to wear with grey. I might also wear with jeans casually with a charcoal or possibly black blazer. If it's button cuff then it could go with jeans under a black or grey sweater (mine's double and therefore won't work for that).

While not ideal, can't you wear this with a gray suit?

hmmm, look at the general color schemes of the pics below. Generally you can do monotone combos (grey, white, and black - eg lighter grey suit, b/w shirt, solid black tie?), or maybe a light color like pink or beige. try beige suit with the shirt?
