Walk up Broadway from Mario's to John Hellmer, a great traditional haberdasher. Then just a couple of blocks to Michael Allens, a small store with a great staff.

You must spend some time in Powell's, one of the last great local bookstores in the US. You can spend hours wandering around in there.

Portland's downtown is also home to a BUNCH of great restaurants.

Go visit the Willamette Valley wine region. Less than 2 hour drive. Do not miss Chehalem and Cristom wineries.
