I am wearing a light grey suit for a marriage. I'm planning to wear a white shirt. My suit is almost of the same colour & fit as in this photo. I have medium height, brown skin, black hair. Can someone plz help me out and advice me on what tie to wear. Any other suggestions would also be welcome..

Are you part of the wedding group, or just a guest? If part of the group, ask the bride or groom if they have a tie color theme (some do). If not, then I'd choose a dark blue (or burgundy) with white pindots.

Black might be a bit hoe hum.

Are you picking from ties that you own, or are you looking to purchase a tie for the occasion. If the latter, what's your price range?

Black might work with a pink shirt, but nothing else. Otherwise some variant of blue or red with a white, ecru or dove grey shirt.

light grey suit and white shirt: There is hardly anything which does not work.

One of my favorites would be a navy grenadine tie.

I'm trying to pick from what i have..but if not satisfied i'll surely purchase one...though i am afraid I don't have large collection to choose from..
i have a solid black tie, a maroon with very small golden diamond prints, a plain true blue, a dark blue with some grey pattern printed, a navy blue with self stipes and a shiny red one...
    too confused amongst all these..

What AlexE said - almost everything will look good with that suit and a white shirt. I wore that, a fairly bright blue plaid tie (sky blue, dark blue, white and black) plus black shoes and belt to an event a few weeks ago and got props.

Jak123 - among the ties you have shiny red is not good in general. Among the others I think all will work - go with whatever looks dressiest. Maybe the maroon won't be so good due to the gold. The solid black will look OK but be a little boring.

You should definitely pick up a solid navy grenadine. Kent Wang has them. It's completely worth the investment.

Of the ties that you have, dark blue (though I'm not sure what pattern you have on them) seems like the safest bet.

Are you IN the wedding or just attending? If you're just attending, then go with lavender (and blue). It goes well with that shade of grey for more relaxed, upbeat occasions.

Nice choice of color for a wedding and you can practically wear any colored/slightly patterned tie with it. I suggest something with a tinge of red or blue lavender.

Can't go wrong with a navy grenadine.
