As someone who bought a lot of items from their last season, I can't see a single piece I would even consider in this whole line:

Why is everything so shiny? What are they thinking!

I agree. I don't own a lot of etro, but I do have a few pairs of trousers which I really like. I've enjoyed looking at their past few shows even if most of it is not stuff I would wear. However, after checking out the latest stuff over the weekend, I was wondering wtf.

The stuff which ends up in Etro's shops isn't always closely related to what you see on the catwalk - which this spring is admittedly horrific. I was in their boutique the other day and and while there were one or two catwalk style conversation pieces, the vast majority of clothes for sale were classic Etro. Perhaps the shiny silk pieces will arrive later... I'll be avoiding those.

If you do come across the glitzier items, they're usually put in window displays rather than on the shelves. Your experience in the US might vary - it depends on the store's buyer, I suppose, and if he thinks that silk skirts are what men need in the midst of a depression, well, I'll see him in the soup queue this coming autumn.

I'm a huge Etro fan but I prefer to buy only one or two items each season. I thought the A/W 2008/2009 show was unpromising, but I ended up buying more than usual... the sales were good.
