I picked up these jeans in Thailand a while back. They don't look great on me so planned on selling them from the beginning. Unfortunately, I don't know what they are! Denim seems pretty high quality, but I'm far from an expert. It's still but not cardboard stiff. Some details: Raw, selvage denim Selvage on rear belt loop and coin pocket 501 cut, I think Red tag has capital "E" Patch says "501XX" Hidden rivets Made in USA tag All tags in English I'd appreciate any light people can shine. Maybe some weird Thai knockoff of Japanese 501s? Thanks! Tom edit: oops, pics

I'm no expert but they look like the ubiquitous thai fakes. The give away is the reverse selvage belt loop.

I would rather have a Thai Ice Tea for $4, hope you didn't pay much more than that.

here's my question - are these thai fakes better or worse than the levi's you can get in the mall? because those are pretty bad at times.

Well, I sort of am (having dug deep and hard into the markets of Bangkok for such things) and they are DEFINITELY Thai fakes. Loose cut, short inseam, really really stiff fabric-as long as you didn't pay a lot for them, they're nice for the price. Generally speaking, they're better than 'normal' Levis, although there are a couple different places churning them out. That particular style isn't bad at all.

I talked with a guy who ordered a pair here in the states, he said the fabric was spot on, but the construction was a little lacking. In the end, you get what you pay for in life.

I exaggerated, the thai fakes aren't bad, they are definitely better than STF 501 in the states for $45. You should see some worn examples on ebay, killer....

lol the fabric looks pretty decent, definately better than most Levi's. But some of the stitching looks horrible. I think it's a decent bargain.. just take those levi's patchs out.

Yeah, this sounds about right. Loose threads and whatnot but the denim is pretty good quality and I could see the cut looking good on someone who's looking for the traditional 501 fit. Largo--killer avatar dude. I really thought the Toad was going to end up dominating.

If anyone wants any of these Thai LVC, pm me in about 2 to 3 weeks or check the buy sell forum. I'll be in Bangkok (or, at least, I better ******* be) and will be able to get any size. Raw selvedge, of course.

Of course, there's no point mentioning them without sample fade pics:
