I have a pair of maui jims which are similar to the silhouettes. Unless you are talking about a different pair the silhouettes wrap around more than the oakleysI've seen the Oakley's pictured, and like them (although they don't fit my face at all). Â However, their wraparound shape still makes them not particular suitable, imo. Â They look much better with jeans and tees and activewear. Â I think that the minimalist Silhouettes, classic rectangular shapes, or Aviators look much better with suits. Â Kent, I agree that the sunglasses are not the best shape for you. Â I understand that you like Avaitors, but you don't really have an Aviator compatible face (few Asians do). Â I would really recommend a more angular pair for you. Â If you are in the LA area, go to L.A. Eyeworks on Melrose, and they will hook you up right. Â Those people know their stuff. Â I could see you in a pair of Starcks. Â
BTW, I think that there are plenty of plastic (actually, most of them are acetate, or generally called "zyl" framed sunglasses that look great with suits. Â It depends a lot more on the shape and design than the material used.
In addition, they're not very trad.I've seen the Oakley's pictured, and like them (although they don't fit my face at all). Â However, their wraparound shape still makes them not particular suitable, imo. Â
Does persol come in a transition lense or is that a custom job?I wear these, in black, as my regular glasses (clear lenses). I think I'm going to get a second pair in tortoise with transition lenses.
Cliff: what style(s) Silhouettes do you own? And how would you say the lenses compare, say, to Maui Jim?I currently have three sets of Silhouette's, they are comfortable, minimalist - easy to wear. http://www.silhouette.com
