What styles go well with pecs?

The other day I was shopping with my boyfriend, because he needed new clothes. So I suggested a few shirts, but nothing seemed to look right. If he wore loose shirts, because he has pecs, the shirt hangs down and it looks like he's overweight. But because he has rounded shoulders, if he wears tight shirts, it hangs weirdly on his shoulders and makes the shirt look bad. It just brings too much attention to his shoulders. He can't really wear cardigans or anything like that, because he already has such rounded features that it makes him look like a girl. He's broad chested and tall, but I can't find anything that will fit him.

If nothing fits right off the rack, then I would suggest looking into getting some shirts made to measure...there are a few places that do online MTM services that are discussed on here, such as Jantzen and Mytailor.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. In the meantime, though...

I would prefer not to have to get things tailored. It's pretty expensive for a broke college student. I'm kinda wondering if there's anything that might draw attention away from that or something.

I'm willing to bet that getting a shirt made to measure by Jantzen will be same price or cheaper than whatever options you guys may have looked at in stores.

I have to get all of my shirts tweaked....adjusting the sleeves and taking in the sides. Costs me about $20 so shouldn't be too bad for you as a option.

The hell, guys?

I agree with the commendation to get shirts that fit across the chest and shoulders (and make sure sleeves aren't short)- and then have them taken in if he is athleticlaly build.

At least do this- find a sales attendant that knows what they are doing and have him measured so you know what to aim for.

Good luck.

I would find a tailor and have the shirts taken it at the sides for $10-15 per shirt. He will need to buy shirts to fit his shoulders and chest and then simply have the waist taken it.

Then send your BF here to the forum and in 9 months we'll have him buying custom everything and spending $5000/year on shoes.

Good question- do you mean rounded as is muscular or more "stooped" as described above?

Ichigodesu,

Here is a link to a description of my experience with **** fit and alterations. As a broke grad. student in can understand your concern about the cost of alterations, but after several years of searching for a label that fit my athletic build (genetic, not aquired) I came to the conclusion that discount shirts and basic alterations were the way to go.
