What style of shirt collars with sweaters?

Which style of shirt collar works best with sweaters in general? I'm finding that most of my dress shirts have collars that are way too stiff and stick up far beyond the neckline of the sweater and it looks odd to me. I have a few shirts that are softer in nature and they seem to work better. I don't want to have to invest in shirts to wear with ties and then shirts that I want to wear under sweaters. I would like to get away with one style of shirt.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of going Jantzen soon so what would you suggest I try ordering from them?

I would try a bd or a rugby shirt. Trying to stick a one-collar/shirt-only rule is not something that gets me overly excited.

Only having 1 style of shirt probably won't work. A button down oxford might be a good style to consider. For reference:

I think a lot depends on the collar of the sweater, as well as the shirt. Personally I don't like pairing button-down shirts with v-neck sweaters. Crewnecks sweaters are more flexible, but sometimes you might like going collar-out, in which case button-down shirts are restrictive.

Also, there is a big difference between sportshirts and dress shirts underneath sweaters. Dress shirts work better because they are generally slimmer fitting and therefore won't look and feel so bulky underneath.
