Not sure if anyone in the S&D forum knows this...

I've been wanting to get something like this but I don't know what the style is called so I don't know what to search for.

**** Kudos if you know of a site that sells this style for relatively cheap.

Borsalino is a brand and not a style of hat. Borsalino makes many styles of hats and caps.

You best chance for info is The Fedora Lounge forum. Those guys know all there is to know about hats.

Also, get a felt cowboy hat and have it (crown) re-blocked

That style is known as "fedora with big ass brim and moderately slim ribbon".

Try the Akubra Stylemaster for a similar hat. Akubra is known for great quality at a very reasonable price, and they make a lot of big brimmed stuff becuase they're still used as outdoor working hats by Australian ranchers. Big brims keep the sun off. They also make very tough felt bodies for their hats, because, well, they're very often used as working hats.

Stetson/Hatco (the parent brand) is the other big company in a similar price range, and they make some stuff along those lines too. The Chatham model is one to look into, or the Benchley if you want pure beaver. But you'll pay for that. FYI, these names are off the manufacturer's websites, and you may have to look around to see who stocks them. Stetson's reputation for quality hasn't been as good as Akubra's in recent years, but they've been getting better.

Bencraft in New York (Brooklyn to be exact) has a tremendous selection and knowledgeable sales people. I bought several hats there last summer, including a Borsalino fedora and a Trevi straw hat and am very pleased with them.
