Hey i have been looking for a style that fits me for a couple of months now but i cant figure it out. I want a style that just represents me. I am generally a relaxed guy who never stresses at all. The reason i care alot about physique is becausr for the past year lifting has practically become my life. So naturally i would want my look to show what i work so hard for.

Pic 1-4: a trendy gym style that really speaks to me but i dont have the physique that the guy in the pictures has. This prevents me from committing to this look.

Pic 5-9: a more casual classy look that looks really good and stylish. But these clothes are tight around the body so i fear my physique isn't good enough yet. This also prevents me from committing here

Pic 10-14: this style recently got my attention and i am really liking it. Its more of a redneck style that looks really tough and imposing. I generally have big shoulders, arms and back which i think would complement me. My only fear is that it is too gimmicky with the hat and caps.

Pic 15- 17: this is how i look

Where do you live, play, and work? Big city, smaller city, suburbs of one of those? Techy city or a biz corporate hub kind of city? The rugged outdoorsman large plaid is a good look but might tend towards gimmicky if your haunt is wall street. Several of those outfits on the pictured guys would work well on your body. I see nothing that I would think you need to apologize for if you wore tight fitting clothes or the gym look. I don't see the guys in the gym look clothes as having anything on you except that they look to be 19-20 and you at least a couple of sun rotations on them. Depending on location I'm not big on gimmicky western hat style. I am in TX and I work urban and live rural and train and compete on horses. I wear western hats, sometimes even with a suit for biz. I wear fedoras too so I am not against hats but costume quality brimmed hats always look just like costume pieces to me. If you go with a brimmed hat then do quality and wear it like you own the **** out of it. Fitted ball caps for casual wear are a good choice. Good luck and you look like workouts have paid off well.

Hey thanks for the reply,

I live in a smaller city. Its nothing like the big cities in america but also not the country.

I think the plaid shirts, jeans and cut off shirt would be fine here but the hat might indeed ne overkill. Caps could work and these clothes do seem ideal if i bulk up during the winter

I am happy with my body i just think my physique is not good enough yet for the casual and gym style, that might be body dysmorphia talking though.

If you had to assign any of these 3 styles to me judging by my face and body, which would look the best?

Each has an aspect that i like.

Casual look is just handsome
Western look is tough and imposing yet relaxed
Gym look seems perfect for my age and represent my hobby

It strikes me this way: I think your coloring, physique, and what I sense as your "vibe" would work well with facets of all of those. If you are striving for a "uniform" then you have to narrow the choices. I like 3 for the gym look that works when you are not just on your way to the gym. 5, 7, 9 ,11 all are good looks. 5 and 7 are more or less warmer and cooler weather versions of the same style that wear well when you want casual (not business casual) and want to be uplevel with it. 9 and 11 push it to the rugged look and could be worn to outdoors fun and active events.
When I used "uniform" I refer to what some consultants (I am not a life coach or any sort of fashion professional, just an observant tech education guy) often promote. They believe a person should have a personal brand and be known as the blue or brown or grey guy or whatever you choose to be your "uniform". I think most of us have some colors we just don't like on us when we look in the mirror. If you don't think you look right in something you likely will not be your best self.

If your putting that much effort into your gym work, I would mostly ignore all those three looks to be honest, go classic and simple and let the fit of the clothes do the talking (understated is always better, compare seeing a beautiful woman in an elegant gown to a slapper with everything hanging out of a skintight minidress and plastered in make up!!!!)

The first group of pictures are kids clothes (you look like you have put a lot of effort into looking like a man), you already have some gym clothes??

The third group are basically "redneck" outfits (you came here looking for style I presume) jeans can be fine, but tone down the shirts, avoid the hats and never sleeveless shirts in public

The second group are closest to actually being stylish (but badly executed) you can do way better than any of those pics, try mixing in some tailored pieces, avoid any kind of "fashion" stuff like cargo pants and stick to slimmer cuts not skinny, avoid any kind of fashion shoes (go traditional, go quality)

Don't wear tight stuff to show off your muscles, tailored always looks better!!!

Just my opinions of course

Good luck and welcome ?

My son the gym rat looks pretty much like you, in terms of physique. He’s 29 and wears bespoke suits made in Naples. But not to the gym. Context is everything.

The “gym look” you pictured is…for the gym. The polo shirt pics are a nice casual streetwear look. The cowboy duds border on Village People cosplay especially with the hats, but plaid work shirts have their place. No comment on the wife-beater which is called an undershirt for a reason.

Assuming you’re not shopping for tailored jackets and suits, I would look for outfits in the range of the pics with polos and chinos. The shirts don’t need to be skin tight unless that’s your thing, so no worries if you don’t think you’re ripped enough. My son doesn’t either.

Not all consultants believe that. Branding arguably works for well-known individuals. Consistency is good enough for most people.

Furthermore, even in regular clothes, he'll probably be known for the extreme physique, which seems to be what he wants.

That mostly is gym wear, yes, hardly proper for most situations. Measurements would be an important starting point that very likely would point in that direction anyway, because most clothes are not going to fit close to correctly on that physique. What about age, also? 21?

A few weeks ago, I saw a guy dressed in quintessential business casual on the subway. I could tell the dude was ripped because his shirt was so tight that you could see his biceps. It looked ridiculous. He would still have looked fit and well built in a better fitting shirt that didn't attempt to approximate a skinsuit.

Don't go too tight. You'll still look great without attempting to show that you lift weights.

I did not say all. I specifically said "some". I would think you know what I am talking about and your advice seems to bear this out. I also asked some questions to try to get more info pertinent to forming suggestions applicable for the individual.
