What socks to wear with sneakers/casual shoes?

I just need info on what type of socks to wear with sneakers/casual shoes.

I often wear athletic ankle length black socks with my sneakers.

The rule of thumb is that socks match with pants/jeans color.

So I am alittle confused.

What if I was wearing blue or red pants? Do I wear blue and red socks?

It is very hard for me 2 find casual ankle length socks. Most ankle length socks are for athletics and I hate socks that go up to my calves. Any tips and solutions?

1. Custom around here is for newcomers to try the search function before posting a question. There is a tremendous amount of helpful information that has been built up here over the years.

2. If you really can't find answers via search (which probably means you're not trying hard enough), newcomers are further encouraged to post quick questions like these in the "quick questions here" threads, pinned to the top of each sub-forum. The Men's Clothing side is more about men's dress clothes. There is some overlap in the middle, but you are clearly looking for advice on the casual side.
