What size should I get?

Hello, I am thinking of getting a fitted style blazer from J Lindeberg. I 'think' I'm normally a size 38 (don't have tailor's tape to measure but I have a 40R blazer that hangs a bit loose). I'm 5'10" and 32"w and weigh about 144lbs. Take a look here: http://www.gilt.com/sale/men/blazers...oduct/46912231 The model in the picture whose normal size is EU 50R / US 40R, is shown wearing a size EU 46R / US 36R. From the picture though, it looks great on him. If I was to order a similar style from them, would it be safe to also go for a 46R? I'm scared if it'll be too small, but from the pictures, it looks great on the model who is wearing 2 sizes down his regular size!

Can't see the coat on the link but email them to see if they can do some measurements for you. It would be risky to go down a size IMO.

Thanks the links work. I thought the jacket was a bit short but the fit was good. Looks like the suit has already been tailored. I'd go to see other sites if they offer the suit to get a sense of size if they don't respond.

Thanks. They didn't have the one in 38R US for the one I wanted, so I took a chance and ordered the 36R. Maybe I'll take pictures wearing it when it arrives and have you guys critique the fit. If it doesn't fit right, I'll just return it for a refund.

I'm still hoping I won't have to return it, especially since it fit the model who is apparently bigger than I.

Unless they changed their policy, their "refund" is a store credit only.

Weathernut - I'm almost exactly your same size.

I find that I'm somewhere in between a 36 and 38 - it really depends on the brand.

Every salesman (brooks brothers, etc) has always told me to go with a 38 because the chest pulls a bit on the 36 and makes the lapels pop out a bit. I personally think that some of the bigger 36's actually can fit (and the shoulders work better).

In some really slim brands I can't fit in a 36 at all (Zara, for example).

The 38 is probably your safest bet. Even if it runs big, it won't be by much.

It's almost always easier to buy bigger and have it altered down. It's almost always impossible to buy smaller and have it altered up.

I know...I would have DEFINITELY gone with the 38R instead of 36R, but it wasn't available in that size.

Right now, I'm only hoping that if it fit the model nicely (see pictures above), hopefully, it'll fit me as well.

I'm not going to bother with alterations...if it doesn't fit, back it goes.
