What should I wear with a navy blue trim Zegna suit when going to cocktail parties?

I will be attending a business conference next month, with wall-to-wall CEO's. I expect that afterhours I will be attending parties and casual events. I really hate wearing dress pants and dress shirts to these events, and have decided to keep the suit on.

My goal is to look casual, and ready for fun, yet slightly refined, rakish.

I expect some of the events to be cocktail parties that end up in high end dance clubs.

I have a new navy blue Zegna that is trim, modern and has a slight sheen. It's not a true navy, sort of lighter shade of navy, and almost bluish-gray up close.

I was thinking a gingham shirt with dark blue print shirt and dark knit tie to dress it down, together with brown lace ups and brown belt.

I am seeking ideas as to how I can make this cool suit look casual, ready for play. Thanks in advance for any advice.

In my opinion, the look would appear to put together for a dance club. I'd lose the tie and wear the suit with a shirt that doesn't scream 'southern picnic' like gingham does. I'd personally just go with a good white shirt.

I also have to agree with the white shirt/no tie look. Don't try so hard...
