What should I do with my comic book collection?

I keep lugging around some comics I had from when I was a kid. Many are signed and are first editions. Many are crap that aren't worth hardly anything. I'd like to take inventory of all of it, what is the best way? I will probably donate or sell all the ones that aren't worth much and try to consolidate into one box those that are worth something.

Keep a handful that you enjoy, and sell the rest. Holding comic books, as with most other kind of collections, is a lousy investment. S&P 500 will get you more for your money. Then in 30 years if you're feeling nostalgic you can buy your issues back and have quite a bit of money left over.

Ebaying the individually would bring the most money, if you have the inclination. Otherwise sell the batch to a dealer. Don't put much faith in "book" price guides- other than measuring relative values- sites like ebay have made them obsolete, if indeed they ever even served a purpose.

Yeah collectibles are pretty crappy, even the first edition of Superman might not even buy you a house. Figuring out what I have is the toughest part. I don't want a dealer ripping me off. I probably have a couple thousand comics.
