Hi everyone, I'm not really good when it comes to classy hairstyles. I was just curious what recommendations you'd have for a 5'3 asian girl with long thick black hair? If you could include pictures that'd be awesome so I could show my hair stylist.

You've got a nice enough facial structure that either up or down will work. I vote down. If you're looking to impress your date, definitely down. Female friends will encourage the "up" look, which is supposedly more sophisticated - it just isn't as feminine. Seriously, it isn't. It all depends on your target audience - a lot of girls are going to have their hair up, ala Oscar ceremonies. Jennifer Lopez with hair up - too hard-edged http://www.superphotospace.com/image...d771c203b2.jpg Jennifer Lopez with hair down - yum! http://www.photocub.com/photo/var/al...-771681645.jpg Look up pics of Catherine Zeta Jones, whose hair is of similar length to yours. Selma Hayak was well. http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/famec...-picture-1.jpg Make your hair really shiny as well, very hott on Asian girls - see if your stylist would recommend a professional hair gloss. It'll get a lot of positive attention - reflects light, creates that glow so many women want to have.

Haha oh my well your examples of Jennifer Lopez.. her hair in a bun is not exactly exquisite. I'm not going to have a bun for my prom hair. That's for sure. I was looking for more classy examples, but either way, your input is helpful

Hmmmm this is an interesting forum to seek advice. Not sure if you know this but this site is usually dedicated to men's fashion.

You look great either way (personally I prefer the up-do), just rock whatever hairstyle you choose with confidence and you will be fine. Make sure your prom date does not wear jeans or anything of that nature to put all your hard work choosing an outfit to waste.

HAHA. I so did not know this was a men's fashion forum. I was just looking for active forums and I noticed this one had really active users. That's hilarious. I now understand why the past replies have been from all males...

I don't like bangs at all. I like seeing forehead.
