    Hi.

I’m in need of a few shops in New York City that offer slim fitting or athletic build casual buttoned-down shirts.

Preferably the fit AE or A&F offers on their shirts. Online shops will not be considered for I must try on the shirts based on my physique.

    Cheers.

BiG and Context are the only ones that stock them in the US

A&F has even gotten rid of the stupid moose, now you just have the letters "A&F" declaring yourself to be in high school.

Great Idea! Why didn't I think of that! [IMG] AE and A&F are promoting a lot of flannel whereas I am looking for more pinstripes for casual wear. How are the cuts on J Crew?

Are there no J. Crews near your cave? Its a pretty common store, but Jcrew fit is a little looser Medium-->medium. Their style will be "washed" out colors, stripes, etc.

Cuts on jcrew shirts are good as long as you don't have a big chest/thick back. If you do, you won't be able to wear a size small enough to get a "slim" fit as the chest is small and the buttons will pull if you pull your arms/shoulders back.

You can also try Brooks Brothers slim fit. I've got a few of these in linen and noniron varieties and have been pretty pleased with the fit.

    Cheers Mate!

My issue is the typical broad shoulders and narrow waist, which is common with gymnast and body builders. A lot of standard fitting shirts I own (Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers) are generous in the mid section, which makes me look like as if am wearing a cape from the chest down when the shirt is not tucked in my trousers. [IMG] Something relatively easy to conceal wearing suits, however very revealing when sporting jeans.

I may need to explore their shop even further for I've always found myself going no further than their classic styling.

I can think of two on the top of my head. By washed out colours do you mean they will always offer that look as if someone accidentally poured too much bleach in the wash?

It's been years I haven't ventured into Soho. Hopefully the shop on Prince Street is still there.

    Cheers.

Brooks Brothers Extra Slim - great value if you buy 3 and have a coupon on top of that
Ralph Lauren Black Label - one of the only cuts I like even better than BB Extra Slim, but pricey
Banana Republic Slim Fit - their slim shirts have gotten much trimmer recently, look for sale/coupon
Zara and H&M - they each have like four or five different actual fits, so you might find a good one
Hugo Boss - red label fits slim, black label slim/tailored fit are also slim, but may need to size down a bit

All of these can be tried on in NYC at multiple locations, though you may end up wanting to order them online if you can find good sales/discounts not available in-store.
