What shoes to wear with jeans?

Hi All
I did a pretty extensive search on this but could not bring up the results I was looking for.

I just wanted to know, what are the ideal shoe type/s & styles to wear with jeans?

I will be the first to admit, when I am going to the shops or going to be doing a lot of walking, I have often been wearing jeans with my joggers/runners (like nike brand). From what I see that is a pretty big fashion fopar !! Which is why I am on here trying to research and change!

So, what shoes should be worn with jeans, particularly when just going out to the shops, or a walk at the park, etc..

Boat shoes? Sneakers/canvas shoes? Saddle shoes? Boots? Something else?

I don't know if this is relevant but I am in my late 20s and live in Australia, mainly would be wearing jeans such as Levi 501s, with a T-shirt or something on top

#1: If you've been out and about at the mall (in your Nikes), presumably you've seen other men you thought looked well dressed. Emulate them. Nobody here can tell you to wear boat shoes versus high-top sneakers versus boots. That said, with jeans like that and a t-shirt at a mall in the sunny outback, you probably want some kind of simple, low-key sneaker like Common Projects.

If you're not cool or confident enough to wear other shoes just wear sneakers. Sneakers go with pretty much any type of t-shirt. With boat shoes, saddle shoes, boots, you have to pick slightly more 'refined' t-shirts in order to not look odd.

Start small and start cheap. I followed WAYWT, WAYWT (SuperFuture), and Best Fits; then just try to emulate looks that are on a budget for me.

For shoes I started with white Vans Authentic which were practically free, white Jack Purcells at $25 on sale, and Clarks Desert Boots at $40 from B&S. That has me covered for simple, minimalistic footwear and a pair of boots at roughly $70.

As far as boat shoes, brown sperry topsiders are extremely versatile and go with just about anything including jeans, timberland and sebago make similarly priced boat shoes as well, I've only ever bought sperry's so I can't really recommend them :/ but I can't imagine them being drastically different in quality.

Another user suggested Vans here, I'm not a big fan of Vans anymore, I dunno that they're popular in Australia, but they're everywhere. They also make boat shoes but if I was going shopping for boatshoes the Vans store wouldn't be my first stop :/ The demographic they tend to target is kind of younger, but I see people of all ages rockin em, I particularly like their collaboration shoes with Barbour that they made recently and they're overall decent shoes to start out with, pretty affordable, you usually can't go 5 feet without finding a store that sells them or a person wearing them here in the states..

If you like Vans though, I'd recommend Pro Keds as an alternative to Vans, the demographic they target is a little older than the Vans demographic, but I love their waxed canvas and tweed royal CVO shoes as well as their mid tops, I like to think they're way >>>> Vans but I'm pretty biased towards them, I <3 my Pro Keds. On average I think they're a little more pricy than vans, and they don't offer quite as massive a selection in options as Vans do, either way I'd stick to the basics till you have a good idea of what you like/want out of a shoe.

As far as I can tell you can't really go wrong with classic canvas sneakers, pro-keds/keds, pf flyers, converse especially the higher end such as john varvatos designed ones or jack purcells for more comfort, I personally wear the old school running shoes and tennis shoes (styles from the 60's to 80's) with my jeans though as you pointed out is not SF approved.

I think these would look terribly handsome on a guy with some relaxed jeans and whatever shirt. It looks really nice without being prissy.
