1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

To me, some clothing items are totally worth spending a lot of money on. They are unique, stylish, fit perfectly, or are just bulletproof. I have GLADLY spent a lot of money of things such as: Grenadine ties, Shatung ties, slim fit pants, linen jackets, slim fit shirts, belts with stylish patterns, whiskey shell wingtips, pebble grain wingtip boots, etc.

On the other hand, some things just don't seem like they are worth spending big bucks on. I'll start: Black belts. They all look the same to me. Do I need one to last 10 years? Not really. I can just buy a new one every few years, if need be. I just don't feel like I'm getting much for my money, so I personally would never spend $100 on a black belt. (Plain black shoes come in a close second)

I'd rather direct my funds elsewhere, and get more "impact" for the buck.
In your opinion and experience, what items are simply not worth paying extra for ?

Slim fit pants/shirts? You mean, you prefer your clothing to look ill fitting on you?

edit: Just want to add I agree with the black belt thing.

You might think black shoes are worth spending $500 on.
    Others may disagree.
    To each their own.

My Tom Ford butt plug. An impulse purchase that I now regret.

If it is unused and a popular size, you can recoup most of your initial investment.

I believe the Hermes H belt is SF approved.

I also believe it is a big waste of money.

But to the owners of the belt, you are in great luck. As a former owner, I was sure glad a whole heap of people on eBay bidded against each other giving me 80% what I paid for it. Best thing about it - it was well used and over 4 years old.

$1000 slick leather soled shoes. Absolutely no benefit for me at all in having these in Xilinhot. Also no need for a suit and tie, as I don't work in banking and finance, real-estate or for the government.

Oh yeh, some other stuff that's not worth me spending good money on, Grenadine ties, Shatung ties, slim fit pants, linen jackets, slim fit shirts, belts with stylish patterns, whiskey shell wingtips, pebble grain wingtip boots, etc. Pretty sure I can't even get many of these things anyway.

With dialup, I'd have so much more to look forward to.

I would agree partly with you, certain things like under garment, I don't think too much money should be spent on those. But come on, you mean a simple black shoes at JC penny (stafford, scheckers, etc...) is the same as an Allen Edmonds? Don't think so....

pocket squares... I like the idea but I'm just too junior to get away with them at work. They few times i've tried I was WAY too self-conscious. and IMO it seems just too flashy as an entry level guy.

The only time I am not wearing a pocket square is when I am not wearing a sport coat or a suit...
