So, I know that you guys don't always dress according to the "rules" and sometimes do strange and interesting things with your dress that bend or break the rules - things that might be considered a faux pas. So what sartorial faux pas do you commit?

I'll start - when I'm dressed casually - and especially when wearing jeans or cords - I often wear dress shoes with black ankle socks.

Whew - that felt good. Okay, now you go.

If Jeans and Oddjackets are a crime, I'm guilty as charged, a repeat offender and will continue to do so.

I wear square-toe Eccos when it rains (really, really ugly ones).

I also regularly rotate a square-toe pair of black Bally bluchers that won't die... ditto goes for a pair of square toe, black monkstraps from Moreschi. Both are of sufficiently good quality that it makes tossing them a difficult proposition--yet, I have ample replacements for both!

JUSTIFICATION: As a perpetual student, I still firmly believe in the philosophy of economy

Suede shoes in summer, brown in town, mix four patterns, socks don't match trousers, mix metals, light shoes with dark suits. Among others.

I have 2 black suits I wear in my normal rotation for business.

I also quite often wear navy socks with cordovan shoes and grey slacks or a grey suit.

Well, it is, or was, a "rule" for a long time. I think the trads still adhere to it.
