It depends on what you are doing now, how much time you have, and how much energy you want to invest into it.

I guess the big question is what do you want to do with your life? If you want to get into the Financial services sector, then a CFA makes sense.

heating-ventilation-air conditioning

There's a financial melt down going on, but people still want their air conditioning in the summer.

I think personal development is a great thing. Take some free time each week and focus on expanding your knowledge of one particular thing. Do you like technology? Art? Writing? Business? The skies the limit, but once you find out what you want to do, the rest is just determination and hard work. Maybe you like to write. You could take a rhetoric or journalism class or two at a local college, maybe even online, and set your goal to get published in your city's magazine or some other regional magazine.

That can go on the resume, and even if it's not totally applicable to your field, its great to talk about during an interview. Someone might ask about it, and you can say you wanted to develop a new skill, so you set a goal (get published), figured out how to achieve it (take a class), and spent a few hours a week making it happen.

Languages are always a good thing. What line of business are you in? Learn Japanese or something exotic like that, maybe you can use it in your job.

Do this, or get one of the lower pilot's licenses so you can fly hot air balloons.
