What Pants To Wear With Herringbone Jacket

I am going to an engagement party next weekend, and I want to wear my new herringbone sports jacket. What sort of pants should I wear with it? Can I wear navy blue suit pants? Or perhaps cream colored chinos (off-whitish)? Or should I go out and purchase grey slacks?

Sorry - I figured they were all the same. It is black and white herringbone, looks pretty grayish.

Every tint in the brown range will go, from cream/beige/tan until dark chocolate. Blue trousers don't get much love on this forum, but you might pull it off, depending on shirt/tie combinations. Grey trousers: only if you are able to create enough contrast between jacket and trousers.

I'm wondering ... match it with navy pants, pink shirt, mid / dark brown shoes and belt. Could work!

Charcoal or dark brown? I don't have charcoal slacks so I guess purchasing a pair over something brown would serve me well going forward. What color shoes and shirt to wear with either of these combos?
