What pants (color, cut, fabric, etc.) can be worn with an odd double breasted navy pinstripe peak lapel wool jacket? To take it a step further, what entire ensemble would you build around such a jacket?

From what you have said, grey would go well. Grey and navy are a classic combo. Post a picture so a more concise response can be given.

EDIT: I dont know how to match for pinstripe, I thought it was solid navy. Sorry

Yeah, I thought I remembered something about not wearing pinstripes with anything but a matching piece, but I was hoping for some other possibilities.

Pinstripe is a city color, for suits, normally, so you will look like someone that forgot his pants at home!
The only idea that I had for a separate was a linen navy pinstripe that my tailor has - as a summer blazer to be worn with off white pants!

Depending on your age, you could pull it off with jeans.

If I wanted to wear that jacket, I would change the regular buttons to mother of pearl buttons. Otherwise the jacket just looks .... odd.

I have to say no to this. If it were SB then maaaaaayyyybe depending on the jeans worn, but with DB? Not a chance, too much clashing of formal and informal styles.

any pants providing high contrast and/or significant patterns should work, such as white jeans, glen plaid pants, etc.

Edit: assuming certain colors, of course.
