I am up in Hoi An. Staying in a beautiful resort with Plan A.

I would have to say however, Hoi An may be my least favorite place in VN...way overrun with tourists, everyone trying to rip me off on everything (Coke should cost 5000 dong, everyone trying to charge me 20000...meaning I have to stand and haggle on just everything), touts everywhere trying to sell me stuff...driving me crazy.

Heading out of town to some ancient ruins place 30 km away today, but other than that, I may just hang around at the resort for the next couple days.

But, Hoi An is a noted tailoring town - every second shop is a tailor...it's kinda overwhelming, and very hard to choose. My business partner is from here and he recommended a shop that appears to not exist, but he is hardly my sartorial god anyhow (white socks, black shoes, short sleeves, typical)

In the end I went to some shop that Plan A used last time she was here...making up one cotton suit (2 button, peak lapel, high gorge, flatfront pants, hacking pockets with ticket pocket, half canvas, working sleeve buttons)...$48

This is very very cheap.

Also making a tuxedo, similar specs to above but 1 button and 3 piece...$99

Another shop is making me a driving coat for $35, a rip off of this Boyer pic from Sartorialist.

Also on the agenda is the jacket RJ, Etienne and I saw in Marc Guyot's shop in Paris...Marc was nice enough to let me snap some phone shots of it. Casual with-jeans jacket that is lined with two different shades of shirt fabric...not easy to find a place with the jacket cotton and the two shirts that all match well....hard to explain, but we will see

Nothing-special Chinese wools, but feel OK...Im not holding out too much hope, but I get them back today, so we will see.
