1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Too bad I sold my Saturday (neutral milk hotel day) pitchfork ticket last night.

Was looking forward to seeing them but everybody bailed on me. I am fine going to concerts alone... But a festival is a bit too much. Maybe if I were excited about more bands, but otherwise just too much.

I'm the reverse. I generally prefer going to festivals alone so that I don't worry about trying to accommodate others and what they want to see. Between 2003 and 2009, I made it to just about every Bonnaroo, Coachella, ACL, Lollapolooza, and Pitchfork and went solo and with friends and always enjoyed the solo trips more.

Wait... maybe that just doesn't speak well of my choice of friends?

Whenever I see Michigan Planner, I think for a split second that it is "Michigan Panthers" (old time USFL team) and I expect the avatar to be their wacky helmet. This has happened many, many times but still I expect to see that helmet.

This is one of the simplest riffs imaginable, but they make a great song out of it. I've been listening to this a lot lately.

I recently saw Neutral Milk Hotel and it was the best concert of my life (and I've been to a lot of concerts!). It was probably a combination of nostalgia, sheer musical talent and the atmosphere but the crowd and the show was absolutely wild. The thing that kept running through my mind was that I've been waiting for this for over a decade - and the wait completely paid off. I guess my point is that if you ever get to see NMH again, please do it!

And from that, you can probably guess I've been listening to a lot of Neutral Milk Hotel. I really like Father John Misty lately too and Childish Gambino, which is an odd combination, I know.

There are no odd combinations, really. The idea that you should like a particular "type" of music, or that it's weird for you to listen to two different "kinds" of music back to back is just a function of people wanting to be able to easily pigeonhole music (or easily pigeonhole you) so they don't really have to listen or think. The only category of music you should be listening to is music that doesn't suck.

I went to a bar Saturday night to see a random band—Ben Miller Band—here in Cincinnati's Over the Rhine (MOTR Pub, the bar's called).

It was an awesome band and they've been touring with even the likes of ZZ Top. Their second album drops in a couple weeks and honestly I think they could hit it big. Their sound is like a cross between The Black Keys and Foggy Bottom Boys; their live performance far exceeds their studio recording (from their first album anyhow—I'm guessing the second album will be better).

Pretty sweet tunes and I've been listening to them lately.

^I've actually seen them live as ZZ Top's support act one year ago. I agree, they are far better live.
