Not great, but at least better than that Matt Dillon/Idris Elba/Chris Brown/Paul Walker/etc tripe "Takers" I watched the other night. This might even be a "rebound" rating....

Denzel Washington alone gives any film a minimum of 1, imo, even just being Denzel. At least he always works hard, it seems. The story is not nearly as interesting, and "Fallen" is not nearly as good, by any stretch, but I enjoyed this in the way I enjoyed "Seven" in a way. Of course "Seven" is basically impossible to top in the genre.

2.345/5.0

I hadn’t caught this prior to last night.

This has been done many times: Small time attorney takes on large firm for the benefit of the average Joe. Ex...A CIvil action and Erin B.

This was still solid. Damon and DeVito make the movie.

Well worth a watch. 4/5.

Once Upon A Time....In Hollywood.

I think a bit too long. A very good love letter to Hollywood. Sum of the parts is greater than the whole. Recommended viewing even if I'm not sure I want to watch it again. That was a very long payoff.

Happy Death Day 2U. Not as good as the first and left a plot line hanging from the first part of the movie. Still an enjoyable movie though if you have 90 minutes to kill.

Would love to smack around that little twerp, Kevin. But I did think of Bart Simpson in all the younger Kevin scenes.

To atone for my recent spate of "less than marginal" ratings I offer as penance a very positive +4.0.

4.75/5.0. Easily.
Discounted a bit because Tim Robbins goes a little overboard and repetitive with the hang-dog downer facial tics, but Kevin Bacon is really excellent/superb; Sean Penn/Laura Linney/Marcia Gay Harden very strong; and even the "often just a bit too smug for me" Laurence Fishburne is excellent, very restrained and he works really well with Bacon.

I watched it last night after not having seen it for a few years; loved it as if it was the first time.

I have seen this 2-3 times. I do think it is solid, but there is nothing memorable about it to me.

Right now, I am trying to remember exactly what it is about.

I would give this a soft 4/5.

Come on ter1413, we're separated only by 0.75, man. So close!

If you watch it again, I bet you can find another 0.25 here, a couple of 0.125s there, a few 0.05s here and there, and next thing you know...there you are! You can do it, I'm sure of it! :colgate:

My soft 4 couldn’t mean just under 4 give or take. I like the movies. It’s just not one of those classics that I have to watch when it is on tv.
