^ It's on Netflix in Denmark. I'm pretty sure you have a lot more stuff on NF 'over there', but maybe we have some stuff here that you don't? Either way, it's worth seeing when you get the chance.

Oh, of course, Kaplan, sorry. Now I remember that you are in DEN.

I just checked NF USA: "Darkest Hour" is not in their library here. :brick:

I really want to see this very much, even moreso after your recommendation. Hopefully it comes to NF USA soon.

I read Dune while on vacation last week, so today I watched these:

1249532

Interesting documentary on the movie that never was. Jodorowsky managed to gather some crazy talent for this project (Dan O'Bannon, HR Giger, Mick Jagger, Orson Welles, Pink Floyd, Salvador Dali and others) and his enthusiasm taking about it is quite infectious.

After, I watched this:

1249538

Lynch manages to create some memorable visuals, but the movie is a big mess.

Also started the Syfy miniseries with William Hurt from 2000 that isn't great, but which I think I'll finish just to sate my curiosity (it's 3 episodes of 1½ hours).

And then I should probably leave this story until Villeneuve's version comes out next December...

That is on Netflix? Why have I not seen it listed???
If it is indeed on (Netflix USA), I will definitely watch that. I love Oldman and that film has always felt very much worth watching.

I thought it was not on NF, as I have not seen it listed for some reason and it seems it would also have been recommended based on my viewing history. Odd.

I also looked for it this morning and didn’t see it listed on NF US.

^ I'll be leaving for work soon, but I'll leave the keys under the mat. Remember to turn off all the light and turn up the sound when you start the movie. Extra DVDs are in the sideboard.

The NYFF festival premiered "The Irishman" over the weekend and I was lucky enough to get a ticket. As well as a post screening discussion with Martin Scorsese.

Okay, now on the to the film. Personally, I think it's an epic masterpiece. If you loved Goodfellas, you're going to LOVE this film. It's cut from the same cloth. Deniro carries the film since everything is through his POV but Pesci, who has a significant amount of screen time, holds his own as well. Pacino is laugh out loud comedy in every scene he's in and I'm sure he'll be brought up around Award season for best supporting actor. He's integral to the story since a lot of the events evolve around Hoffa. The de-aging wasn't even a thought honestly and when watching the film, it's so flawless that you think the flashbacks are real. This might be Marty's most violent film, which shouldn't be a surprise since Deniro's character is a famed hit man and they do show a slew of his hits. For those worried about it's "long" runtime, those 3 hours and 15 minutes breezed by. I'm being vague on purpose because I want everyone to see this film as soon as it comes out IN the theater. It'll be criminal to watch this epic via your laptop on Netflix. It definitely deserves to be seen on the silver screen.

Side note: The discussion post screening with Marty was just him showing random film clips that he loved recently. Showed the dinner table scene from Hereditary and said that scene stayed with him for a while. Showed 3 clips from older films that has slipped my mind. He wanted to show more clips and talk about them but he had to go. I literally could sit and listen to Marty talk about movies for hours. His passion for the film is so inspiring and he even got me to start working on my screenplays again.

This on Netflix:

1255529

and this at the cinema:

1255530

Both worth a watch and both anchored by a great central performance. Daniel Day Lewis dressed in suits from Anderson & Sheppard and shoes from George Cleverley - Joaquin Phoenix in shirts by Carl from CEGO.

Caught this last night. It was on at a location where I was for a few hours.

Eh. They tried To add some comedy/funny moments that really didn’t work IMO. Storyline not was not Interesting( the Crime portion).

1.5/5.

Banish me to a desert island, with a player and only that version of Shaft to watch, and I would smash the player with a Cast Away* Coconut before I ever even switched that thing on.

Spielberg + DD-L + Lincoln + last night on Netflix.
I thought I would love it, but it never quite "turned the corner" for me.
50/50 at best.

*One of my least favorite flicks ever.

I watched El Camino and Foxy Brown over the weekend. Didn't know it was possible to make anything Breaking Bad related uninteresting but El Camino succeeded. I unfortunately fell asleep while watching Foxy Brown and won't attempt it again.

I don’t think I ever saw this prior to this week. Not bad at all. Leo is always good in these type stuff of roles (Blood Diamond, etc).

He plays a CIA agent looking to flush out a cell.
Crowe was a secondary player in this flick.
