On Criterion now. Strong recommend for any fan of DaFoe, Schrader, Sarandon, etc. Dafoe is phenomenal in it, quiet, angry, yet charming and controlled.

This is me:

Started a four night binge on Daniel Craigs Bond films last night not even going to consider No Time to Die.

Why are you avoiding No Time to Die? Not a perfect film by any means, but superior (IMHO) to Quantum of Solace....

The Craig Bond was a reboot. The set up of Bond in Casino Royale was he was too early promoted to 00 status. M had constant doubts about him abilities which also surfaced in Quantum of Solace. Not commenting on Skyfall or Specter.

These films were a lot more Craig focused physical in its action sequences akin to the Bourne films, thats my view after watching the first two having not seen them in a while. No gadgets or Q but just the sheer physicality of Bond.

And my biggest gripe over the Craig Bond is just because he wanted out you don’t kill off Bond…sorry doesn’t fit the historical narrative of the films, that and Prime is charging $30 to rent it at present, I give Bezos enough money as it is.

When I want HK action I always default to Hard Boiled.... has a special place in my heart b/c I'm a big Anthony Wong fan.

Speaking of: Probably time for my annual re-watch of Untold Story and Ebola Syndrome.

Watched Dune finally, it was very good, especially in comparison to most s-f cinema at present. Music was great?

$30 is very high for rental. Concur there.

As far as the Craig Bond arc goes; I liked CR a lot, QoS was terrible, essentially one long chase scene with little to no plot (again, my take)
Then comes Skyfall which tops CR, quality dips a bit with SPECTRE.

Again, just my opinion, but I thoroughly enjoyed No Time to Die, and look forward to how they move forward with the series after the events of NTtD; complete reset?, 007 becomes a code (already alluded to), some other way forward?

I feel the same way with the Bond rankings. CR and Skyfall were enjoyable. QoS kind of sucked but at least he was really well dressed. Spectre was boring. NTTD was decent but not as good as CR and Skyfall.

I honestly can barely remember the plots of any recent Bond films and the titles don't jog any memories.

Let me help you out.

Bad guy has some evil plan. Bond investigates to find out the plan. Bond kills people and hooks up with a woman. Evil plan is stopped and bad guy either dies or gets arrested.

My biggest gripe with Craig Bond is that they turned Bond into a quitter. He quit MI6 in every film (well technically he was already retired in NTTD).

Is being considered KIA the same as quitting?
