Four Bloomington, Indiana best friends(Dave, Mike, Cyril and Moocher) graduate from high school and really have no plans. They don't intend to leave the small town and just really want to live life and chill.
On the other side are the well off graduates who plan for college and ridicule the four friends....who never back down.
Dave is a champion cyclist and dreams of all things Italian...and competing with/against the Italian national team. His 3 friends rally him to race with them in the Indiana University Little 500 bike race to show those stuck up locals. Reluctantly, he does.
He builds their bike from scratch and they enter as underdogs against the "stacked" college bound teams. What happens during the race is major part of the movie....but the tale that gets us there is as good as it gets(< great name for a movie!)
Love, family drama, small town rivalries, coming of age...this flick has all of that and then some.
If you haven't seen this gem, do take a look! I never get tired of it.
4.75/5.
It's a CGI classic!May give this one a go
Found this by accident on Amazon Prime. Very good!
Kind of a bummer that Jerry Lewis didn't do more serious roles.
The Day the Clown Cried, an unreleased 1972 Holocaust film that Lewis directed and starred in. It tells the story of a fictional German clown, Helmut Doork, who is sent to a Nazi concentration camp as a political prisoner and ends up entertaining Jewish children at an adjoining death camp. In the film’s climax, Helmut distracts the children with jokes and pratfalls as he leads them to the gas chambers, ultimately joining them inside. You will be only partially relieved to know that this was intended to be Lewis’s first dramatic role.
This is as close as you can get, unless you're a famous director or something:How do we see that?
It almost ruined Stallone’s career. He gained weight and did a serious role and it performed poorly. Studios lost interest because he was no longer a bankable and shredded action star.View attachment 1596441
Solid modern western. The more I think about the actual plot of this movie the more I confuse myself because of how nonsensical it is, but Stallone was excellent in it.
