TORA! TORA! TORA!

Amazing film because of accuracy and detailed paid to military realities of the time(shifting the of the biggest importance in naval warfare from battleships to carriers) et. At the same time the movie was very well filmed and some of the practical scenes will never look bad, because these were actual life size models or ships/airplanes. Great and honest effort was made to show the Japanese side too.

Watching it I thought "wow that bridge and cannons looked like Nagato what a great decration! I wonder what ship is dressed up as Nagato?"

In fact 1:1 models of Japanese flagships were used(Nagato, Akagi), mind boggling!

Tenet- what a hot mess. If a story in a movie like this requires this much sitting around and talking to explain the concepts of the story, then the writer/director have failed.

Tora Tora Tora is a great flick, it gets flack for length and exposition but i thought it was engrossing. the production is worth reading about, kurosawa was supposed to direct the japanese POV and they actually got the guy who planned the bombing of pearl harbor to be a technical advisor.

I completely agree with this. This video is supposed to make it easier to understand the final scene.

Nolan’s movies are typically so full of plot holes and inconsistent rules that they’re usually a visual spectacle and a logical mess at the same time. I’d be fine with it if people didn’t claim how he’s a genius and that people just don’t understand his brilliance. It was the same with Inception.

Almost every single movie has plot holes. They only bother me when the film sucks, or is needlessly convoluted. I've actually enjoyed most Nolan films, but tenant was just too damn confusing.

I thoroughly enjoyed Interstellar and Dunkirk, as well as his work with the Batman franchise. Inception was good, but a stretch. And, yeah, Tenet was too far of a reach.

I was going to say the same about Interstellar, but most of the movie was actually consulted by astrophysicist Kip Thorne who wouldn't allow Nolan(s) to do stupid ****. After the black hole thing, he couldn't consult anymore because no one knows what happens. Well, we do know that one probably cannot survive a black hole soooooo....

A couple and their young daughter head out to a remote RV park for some R&R. Everything turns to shite when the little girl goes missing.

Suspects?

Well...there is a couple in an adjacent RV who have the opportunity. There is the RV camp owner who seems a little creepy. There is the young man who helps run the RV camp who has a trailer on site and likes his drugs. Oh......there is also the sheriff...who seems very reluctant to call in the FBI.

A little suspense. A little guessing. But nothing special. This could have been better but the ending failed.

1.75/5.

Trim a half hour and this would rise to the level of mediocre.

The 80s nostalgia gags & guy transported to the future gags were just lame. The theme is basic af. There are countless head-scratching plot holes. The big ending just seems too easy and clean.

Side note: Chris Pine is aging like Ray Liotta.

I watched Emma and Little Women this weekend with my gf. Both were enjoyable movies that I normally wouldn’t have thought of watching.

Started watching some Paul Newman movies too: Color of Money (meh), Cool Hand Luke (meh),Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Sting were great.

Finally watched Casino. It’s like Scorcese doesn’t know when the stop and always makes the movies a little too long. Goodfellas is still one of my favorite movies of all time.

TCM via HBOMax just put up some great movies on demand. We debated between Being There, The Man Who would be King and My Favorite Year. My Favorite Year won out, just a really amusing movie with some great lines and performances. We’ll probably watch the other two soon.
