i'll give you that "traffic" is watchable (interesting choice of word, by the way), and i seem to remember "out of sight" being able to be watched as well.

but in general soderbergh reminds me of a slightly-less-infuriating guy ritchie. guy ritchie got lucky with his first film, which wasn't even really that good, yet he decided to make it again right afterward. then he made "swept away" with his girlfriend madonna, which is like the platonic form of badness. his next film was even worse, the film after that beign even worse than that one...and yet actors keep wanting to work with him, and studios throw money at him. you get the sense that neither he nor soderbergh really have any ideas.

it'd be an interesting experiment to watch a soderbergh film, and then right after roman polanski's "chinatown".

Saw Contagion over the weekend and thought it was great. Also saw Paul and thought it was pretty funny. Finally - The Girl Who Played With Fire - was pretty intense and definitely lived up to the reputation of the first movie. A little subdued in comparison though.

Just went to go see Our Idiot Brother with my wife. It was much better than I was expecting. It was pleasant mix of funny and touching.

Can't speak to Contagion, but I wasn't crazy about Drive. More style than substance.

Film help please: 80s (I think) movie in which a meeting between Monroe and Einstein (and maybe someone else) in a hotel room is fantasized. Can't remember the actors.

^^ thanks for google link , the page gave me the title: Insignificance

Just watched Gianni e le donne (English title The Salt of Life): nice and gentle film about a retired Roman running around after and lusting after the women in his life. Rec'd.
