The making of Aguirre is as interesting as the movie itself.

It requires multiple viewings to get into the groove of this film. It is epic. Raft scene is simply phenomenal.

Kinski shot some local crew by firing pistol at their camp in his nightly delirium.

Herzog was scared of Kinski and thought many times he would be killed or hurt by him..:uhoh:

    It's more than a movie , a historical hallucination.

I almost made it through this juicy bit of literature, after 10,0001 coitus I gave up feeling exhausted.

I thought that it was during the shooting of Fitzcarraldo, which was also shot in South America a decade after Aguirre, that Kinski started losing it and that Herzog thought that he might be attacked?

I remember reading an article that said that one of the local crew asked Herzog if he wanted to have Kinski killed and that, if so, they'd be happy to arrange it for him!

I suppose that Kinski could have been crazy during the filming of both movies although, if so, it does rather beg the question as to why Herzog decided to make a second film in South America with Kinski.

Plan to watch The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel tonight.

GF wanted to go see the sequel, so I thought we might see the first one before.....

    Is it worthwhile or ????

Lots of lovely Nordic nudity. And some blindness to help justify it.

Another great film from Sissako. See it in theaters if you can and then check out his previous feature Bamako.

Keep hanging out in coffee shops, seeldoger, your tip on James Agee's film book was the greatest thing to happen in months.

    Other guy: shut up.
