philistine! So many classics. Not just Casablanca and the Maltese Falcon. There's The Big Sleep, In a Lonely Place, To Have and Have Not, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Petrified Forest, High Sierra, Key Largo...the list goes on and on.

Seeing a revival of Wages of Fear tonight. This film rules. You all owe it to yourselves to watch it. I think it's available on Criterion DVD.

All those recommendations sound horrible. Martial arts movies are always particularly bad. I should've mentioned that.

I've never seen Ran and will probably never see it on my own accord. If I wanted King Lear I'd read it again or at least see the film version with Ian McKellan (which I started to watch and turned it off after 15 minutes). I don't think a good portion of the play can be rendered well in film (hence so many versions, all mediocre) and certainly not by Asian moviemakers.

Also, I can't name one decent Asian actor (as in a person who acts and doesn't just flip around, punch and kick in horribly-choreographed and overly-long fight scenes) but that may be because I never watch Asian movies since the few 'good' ones I've seen are all really, really bad. I also don't like watching dubbed movies or listening to people speaking East Asian languages, so that really narrows it down.

Maybe you should stay away from film and just stick to Yes, Dear.

why, your heart's not in this weak attempt at trolling. You're way better when you're overly earnest about a topic.
