In the theater waiting for battleship to start

turn off your f**kin' little plastic phone and stop annoying everyone else in the theatre.

Now I know the quality of correspondence you people are typin in such places. And this is likely the more intelligent stuff.

Agreed, A Prophet was fantastic.

I just watched We Need to Talk About Kevin. Damn, what a heavy movie. I need to go listen to some happy music now...

To those in Sydney, I strongly recommend checking out the SFF. It’s one of the highlights of my year. I’d say we easily have the most diverse film festival in the world. I can’t wait.

Incorrect. The Happening is the pinnacle of M. Night's work.

It’s the most Hitchcockian of his films.

Great movie. Shirley Maclaine was pretty cute at that age.

She’s much cuter in ‘The Trouble with Harry’.

The Apartment
:thumbs-up:
I never tire of watching Jack Lemmon

Even his lesser performances in ‘The Prisoner of Second Avenue’ and ‘Good Neighbor Sam' stack up well against his best (Days of Wine and Roses; Save the Tiger; The Apartment). He’s just a pleasure to watch.

Just got done with Man on Wire. The whole setup was neat by going through from planning to execution. They seemed like true characters back in the day. I watched Killer Elite earlier. I didn't find it to be anything special, but it wasn't terrible. I'd have liked to have more Robert De Niro in it.

Double feature of what turned out to be Hugh Dancy movies.

Went to see "Hysteria." What could have been a fun or at least interesting movie about the invention of the vibrator for women turned out to be rather dull. Maggie Gyllenhaal's strident over acting. Dancy trying to out Hugh-Grant Hugh Grant. And Rupert Everett mumbling through his lines no doubt due to the extensive plastic surgery that makes him unrecognizable.

That night I watched "Martha Macy May Marlene" a powerful creep of a movie about a collective cult in upstate NY. Had a similar vibe to "Winter's Bone" which is fitting as John Hawkes plays the cult leader and he is as terrifying as he was in WB. This movie gets under your skin and rivets you to the screen.
