Well, luckily I DO have Swedish tracks and subtitles on my version, so of course I watched it again last night. FAR better. And Unbreakable doesn't? Joseph's desperate need for his father's approval, combined with his misplaced idolizing of David, all by itself is heartbreaking. Combine that with David's deep but broken desire to be somebody and matter (and who can't identify with that?), Audry's repressed desire to repair their marriage, and Elijah's deep and driving will to have a place in the world due mostly to his tragically lonely childhood, and you have one of the most humanistic stories I can think of. And the cinematography was outstanding...the use of glass alone was subtle but ingenious.
