Watched about 1/3rd of Night of the Comet last night. I had seen a review of it that framed it as a cheesy zombie classic a la Return of the Living Dead, but it was really just bad bad bad.

Epically bad. I really have to stop bothering with these "camp classics".

You didn't like Cemetary Man? You must lack a lot of depth. I didn't even want to watch it and I got a lot out of it on a philosphical level.

My shallowness is epic in its depth.

I watched "The Tree of Life" tonight. From all the comments I´ver read/heard, I was expecting this film completely difficult to understand, but it´s not really. It works on a rather slow pace, but leaving aside the first 30 minutes and last 10, most of the movie (which last around 130 mins) is just the story of a family in the 60s (or 50s). You´ve got the strict father on Pitt, the submissive wife in chastain and the kids played the pre-teen rebeliousness, who have a un imcomplete father, who loves them but also pushes them too hard (specially the eldest) because he´s not content about some aspects of his life (mainly work and lack of success in his field). And the beginning is just Malick´s way of taking the audience to the main story; he just happens to start from the beginning of creation, from the second the universe took form and when our planet was a barren wasteland with no oxygen, no life, no nothing, and how evolution took us to this moment. And those scenes were absolutely beautiful, as well as the rest of the movie. I loved the camera work, how it flowed threw the different places, accompanying the characters´ movements and how the wide and low shot allow for a great view of the sorroundings. Fantastic film imo.

This is what I have been hearing from everybody. The common complaint is that it's really slow. I don't know. I'm still going to watch it when I have the time.
