My daughter requested this over the weekend.

She made multiple observations- a) she knew how to play a couple of the pieces the string quartet was playing at the party, b) obviously, it's a Christmas movie; why would anyone think it isn't?, and c) that doesn't look like Professor Snape at all.

Maybe I can talk her into watching Die Hard 2 this weekend...

Best Buy had the 5 movie blu-ray pack for $8 this weekend, and I forgot to buy it. :(

I've got the 4 regular dvd set. I'd buy the blu ray collection, but I really don't want the fifth one. I'd pay extra to not have it.

I don't like 4 either, but I figure $8 for the first 3 is worth it.

I actually like 4; weird, I know. But then, I'll watch just about anything with Mary Elizabeth Winstead. It's 5 I can't stand. I've tried to watch it a couple of times and make it about 20 minutes before I give up on it. Something about Jai Courtney is just incredibly unwatchable for me.

It’s hard for me to buy physical media these days. I’m aware of all the dangers of not being able to access content in the future, but I don’t have the space to store all of it. Most of my movie purchases are on Prime so I at least have a single place to go to watch them.

I just don't understand how Die Hard went from some off duty cop at a Christmas party fighting a few thieves to driving cars into helicopters.

May have mentioned this one but if you like noir try Paris by Night, free on Prime. Watched it again last night and better than I remembered. A Paris police vice captain makes his rounds of the nighttime club circuit. The plot is a bit confusing but coherent. Pay attention to the names of the characters to help keep things straight. In French with English subtitles. Only 90 minutes or so but seems longer--in a good way.

Just googled and the reviews are luke-warm, but they are, of course, wrong.

Saw the new Ghibli film, The Boy and the Heron, over the weekend. Beautiful, cerebral, and thoughtful. It's going to take a few viewings to really digest I think.
