The Bond movies need to get back to basics. Cool gadgets, cheesy hijinks and a barely suppressed sexism, all wrapped up in a veneer of sophistication.

This middle of the road crap with an eye on Twitter does no one any favors.

A Quiet Place 2.

The son in the movie is a giant fucking wimp idiot. He was totally useless and basically almost got his family killed.

?????? What are you even talking about man.

The critical error of the Craig era to me has been the serialization of the movies with a darker and emotional through line. While many of the entries are lackluster, it produced two very strong movies with Casino Royale and Skyfall. I do think it’s interesting that from my perspective Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie have basically supplanted the Bond franchise with cool gadgets and glorious set pieces, with the added benefit of dropping the barely suppressed sexism.

If they’re ashamed of Bond movies, or feel the concept is outdated, they should just stop making them, rather than trying to make the tone or character evolve with the times. It’s just strained, it rings false, it doesn’t work.

Gadgets feature quite heavily in the new movie (especially the DB5 and the glider)

Destroying the secret island lair of the villain growing some kind of crazy DNA poison is extremely cheesy

Paloma is an ultra-sexy Bond Girl (but funny and deadly)

One more gripe I have with the movie is there were several scenes with James talking and his dialogue was just completely out of character from his other 4 movies. It was like he was doing a soliloquy or something.

^^^They seem to have colorized Richard Gere’s famously gray hair for that poster. Why!

Went to see the Bond film as part of a friend's birthday party on Saturday. I slept through all of it bar a couple of minutes in the middle. Not sure if telling the organizer (friend's wife) was a good idea but I slept wonderfully.

That's why I have not been to a movie in the theater in appr 15 years...and that was at the Montreal Film Fest.

All other times, I fall asleep.

I had read that the "Ultimate" or "Final" director's cut of Alexander was good. Got 25 minutes in last night and, nope.
